In response to market demand, we introduced ranch homes at our Aspen Homes Community in West Dundee. These homes needed to blend in with the upscale existing homes in the community. In order to accomplish this, we designed larger roof lines and a high level arch at the front door. The home features a generous three car garage, open concept plan and a master suite with a standalone tub, walk in shower and separate vanities. Using advanced building techniques, the home scored at HERS (Home Energy Rating System) rating of 53. The lower level contains a finished, deep pour basement – which doubles the space and provides a total of 5 bedrooms and 3 baths. Finishing touches include wide planked, scraped hardwood floors, granite countertops, driftwood ceramic plank floors, stand-alone tear drop tup and painted maple cabinets with soft close drawers and doors.

This single family home combines the timeless elegance of a classic north shore exterior with the open space concept floor plan. The multiple gable exterior was clad with James Hardie white smooth lap siding and smooth trim boards - a tribute the historical design of colonial inspired architecture. Smooth shake siding was added to the gables, adding texture. The aluminum extruded high performance windows contained simulated divided light on the top sash and were flanked by black shutters. Architectural columns adorn the sides of the bluestone clad front porch. The arch in the front entry is repeated in the arched, 2 1/4 solid mahogany front door.
Visitors are greeted by the casual elegance of the stately foyer. Generously proportioned trim with wainscoting, cased openings, crown and coffered ceilings is installed throughout the home. The custom oak stair case is stained with a custom color to match the site finished hardwood floors.
The family room has a large cased opening to the kitchen and breakfast area - creating an open, yet separate space. The luxurious details continue on both the finished lower level and the second floor. The lower level features an exercise room, fifth bedroom, wet bar, great room and full masonry fireplace clad with Fondulac Limestone.
The second floor features an extremely generous walk in closet in the master suite with the master bathroom finished in Carrera Marble throughout. The landscaping includes the salvation of significant oak trees on the property.

This custom single family home was designed in the “Modern Farmhouse” style and was arranged under the original design premise to resemble a series of additions built around an existing barn. The interior is designed to open out to nature but also shield the two young children they have so the home is U-shaped to create a protected courtyard and also features a walled play area. The owners wanted a ranch home that they could stay in as they age so most of the home is on one level. The interior design by Christine Bakalar mixes rustic farmhouse with industrial elements such as the metal fireplace and a steel retractable wall.

Fifield constructed a luxury high-rise tower that offers its tenants expansive city views, a variety of outdoor spaces, open layout apartments with high-end finishes, and extraordinary amenities to create an overall sense of wellness, convenience and community. Per the architect, “the tower’s sleek, curved facade and setback penthouses provide a graceful continuation of the developing architectural landscape,” within the larger neighborhood. “An abundance of outdoor spaces, private balconies, green terraces and building amenities are seamlessly integrated into the design. The base of the building reflects the scale of surrounding buildings, while serving to conceal off-street parking, and frame a retail colonnade along the street front. The 4th owner of the home contacted us to update a home that we designed approximately 30 yrs ago. The desire was to create an updated, modern home from a home designed in the 80's We were fortunate enough to have an adequate budget. We created a complete package of services. Architecture, Interior Design and Construction Management. The home is on a small lake. The original design did not allow viewing of the lake from the Foyer. One of the main design parameters was to be able to see thru the house out to the lake from the Foyer. The main Living space was all designed with a view of the laks.

After a fire ravaged their home, the home owner used this opportunity to convert their cramped Kitchen into an open floor plan by pushing out a wall into an existing screen porch and completely updating their cabinetry and appliances, and built a custom butcherblock island counter top with waterfall legs. We also created a custom fireplace utilizing poured concrete to create a hearth with no seams and built the surround with custom metalwork & rivet detail. The home owner is a wine distributor so we made a towel holder to look like a wine rack in their Master Bath.

The home owner was looking to give his whole home a facelift, while focusing his design goals on the Great Room & Master Bathroom. A key aspect of the Master Bathroom work was an oddly angled wall that created an awkwardly shaped shower, pushed up against the tub. The dated tub had a tile surround possessing steps up to it. The Kitchen was of “builder’s quality”, lacking suitable storage and cabinetry that seemed more of an afterthought. The Living Room required a new fireplace design, more suitable windows and outside access, and a way to deal with an eyesore support column

A two story addition was added to this Mediterranean Revival home in River Forest to give the homeowner more space for entertaining and a master suite. The first floor entailed a family room and large attached screen porch. The second is a beautiful master suite including a master bath, closet and laundry room. This addition also has a basement for storage. The biggest challenge was seamlessly tying in rooflines, both structurally and aesthetically. The whole house infrastructure was updated as well (electrical, plumbing, insulation, HVAC).

This penthouse design build is a once in a lifetime architects dream canvas. On the 26th floor of Chicagos most famous street, with approx 3800 SF, 16' ceilings and 360 degree views we knew this project would be special. Working in a modern aesthetic the goal of the project was to design a clean space complimentary and worthy of some of Chicagos best views from all angles. inventive leading edge ceiling details meant to draw your eye across the volume of space and views is the first element encountered. Once entering multiple additional ceiling details, elevations and light coves help define living spaces in lieu of traditional walls - keeping views open. This custom home submittal is a tribute to design build execution. From day one the project was based on clear communication, mutual goals and an open book construction management style, allowing for clear expectations. The project although completely custom was completed at our preconstruction budget of $200 per sq foot, identified at inception of project before even commencing with design. The project was completed in 12 months, starting at time of closing, commencement of architectural drawings, permit review, demolition of existing structure and luxury build (9 months for construction). Everyone involved is proud and excited about the outcome of the project.
