November 6, 2019 Chicago, IL: The Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago (HBAGC) honored the best of the best in the Real Estate Industry on November, 6 2019 at the 47th Annual Key Awards Gala, held at Marshall’s Landing located in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, IL.

The Gala was hosted by Chicago’s own Ted Brunson and sponsored by both national and local supporters of the building industry: Pella Windows and Doors, MOEN, Associated Bank, US Bank, Xfinity Communities, Lurvey, Nicor Gas, Brandit360 and Premier Architecture.

The Key Awards began in 1972 in order to recognize housing design, new construction, remodeling, interior merchandising, architectural design and community design. It has since evolved into one of the premier housing programs in the country and has been duplicated by others.

The Key Awards competition is divided into seven divisions pertaining to single family, multi-family, remodeling, interior design, amenity design, outdoor spaces and the coveted Crystal Key, a category that only members of the association may enter.

The first award of the night went to Tara Hovey, President and COO of Optima, Inc. as she was announced the 2019 Woman of the Year in construction by last years recipient, Judy Frydland, Commissioner of the Department of Buildings for the City of Chicago.

Elmhurst, IL was awarded the Municipality of the Year award in recognition of Excellence in Strategic Planning and Positive Contributions to the Community.

MOEN was awarded Plumbing Showroom of the Year for their MOEN Design Center at the Merchandise Mart and Dacor was awarded Appliance Showroom of the Year for the Dacor Kitchen Chicago, also located in the Merchandise Mart.

Also announced, the SAMMY Awards – the Sales And Marketing Merchandising Yearly awards that recognize outstanding achievement in advertising, public relations and merchandising in the Home Building and Remodeling Industry. Allegro Design, Inc. was awarded Website of the Year for and Brandit360 was awarded Marketing Campaign of the Year for the HBAGC event –

The 78 Key Award entrants were presented with Platinum (first place), Gold (second place) and Silver (third place) and the coveted Crystal Key (best of the best) awards at the event attended by over 200 Chicagoland building industry professionals. 

The most adorned winner this year was Reynolds Architecture Design & Construction which garnered the Diamond Award, two Crystal Keys, two Platinum Key Awards and a Gold Key Award. The Diamond Award is chosen by the awards committee from all the entries and this year received a perfect score from the judges.

HBAGC Members Reynolds Architecture Design & Construction, Orren Pickell Building Group, Edward R. James Companies, Schwarz Lewis Design Group, MAW Chicago, LLC, NEWLOOK design | build + development and Focus were awarded the coveted Crystal Key Award recognizing innovation and creativity in their winning entries.
