A TIMELESS STYLE EMBRACES A RELAXED MODERN AESTHETIC
The custom home was designed for a young couple that live in Illinois, but spend time in the mountains of Park City, Utah, that have a love for both the modern and natural world.
The challenge of the design was twofold. Creating a timeless contemporary home, in keeping with the family’s busy lifestyle, yet honoring their love of nature and the outdoors. The façade consists of dual stone stepped gable elements that mimic details found in homes nearby.
The client’s love for natural materials was incorporated from the exterior, into the gallery, where an interior solid stone wall provides separation of public and private spaces.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION - 100 WORDS OR LESS

The Robin by DJK Custom Homes is a beautiful custom home built located in the heart of the West Highlands neighborhood near Downtown Naperville. This inspiration behind the design of this home is by the ever so popular Modern Farm House style. When you first enter the home you are greeted by a custom shiplap wall in the foyer with pocket doors across the hall to pocket doors that lead you into the private study. As you enter the living area you are greeted with soaring 12' ceilings and a custom shiplap fireplace design with a two sided fireplace that faces indoor and outdoor toward the screened in porch area. As you open the large double barn sliding doors you will be lead into a large play room area. The kitchen leaves a lasting impression with custom white painted maple cabinets with 42" upper cabinets and dark stained large kitchen island with quartz countertops. Across the entire span of the kitchen and casual dining area ceiling stretch custom wood beams that compliment the 12' ceilings.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION - 100 WORDS OR LESS

The clients were focused on unique/thoughtful design and the highest quality materials and
craftmanship. The challenge was to transform the existing open floor plan
kitchen/breakfast area and family room into a more pleasing assembly of spaces, unique
yet connected by materials and details. The blessing (and the curse) were the large windows,
door openings, circulation paths and different ceiling heights. The solution was to reconfigure
the kitchen, taking advantage of the windows, without losing storage since there are no wall
cabinets in the final design. The wine bar area provides separation of spaces. The design
features white bespoke cabinetry and warm gray stained accents. Mirror details provide interest
while visually softening the full-height storage cabinets

PROJECT DESCRIPTION - 100 WORDS OR LESS

A beautiful clubhouse is a staple of most top-notch golf courses, and you won’t find many better than Olympia Fields’.

Chicago architect George C. Nimmons designed the clubhouse, which was the largest in the world when it was constructed in 1923. Unique in its Tudor-revival style and showcasing its trademark 80-foot-high four-faced clock tower, the Clubhouse continues to leave an everlasting impression on all those who walk through its doors. Today, the clubhouse is one of the few clubhouses listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

With such history in design it was a great challenge for Del Mar Builders to match the elite craftsmanship while modernizing the women's clubhouse without losing any of OFCC's charm. Enhancements include: new marble showers, sauna, marble steam room, massage room, hospitality area, private dressing room, new lockers, new lounge room and more.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION - 100 WORDS OR LESS

The Kelmscott Park apartments’ design draws on the English Arts and Crafts movement, echoing the architecture of the nearby historic Market Square and downtown area. The existing Franklin Park and Heritage Tree Park were integrated into the site plan, as well as new corner parks created which offer multiple common green spaces for the larger community to enjoy. The three apartment buildings are brick and stone, organized around a central courtyard, which features an outdoor patio with a fire-pit and grills as well as curving walking paths which connect each building. Material consistency creates a sense of holistic design, while details are varied to give each building a subtle individual identity.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION - 100 WORDS OR LESS

As part of a larger community, the design of the homes at Kelmscott Park was driven by their relationship to the surrounding buildings, Lake Forest’s commitment to architecture & open lands, and the needs of empty-nesters. Inspired by William Morris and Kelmscott Manor, the homes utilize themes from the Arts & Crafts movement to create modern, open spaces. Lake Forest’s promise to preserve open lands, required a commitment to landscaping which reflect the English gardens that inspired Morris. Finally, the downsizer demands resulted in homes with first-floor masters and large entertaining spaces built on high-quality design, the expectation in Lake Forest.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION - 100 WORDS OR LESS

We targeted two buyer types at Lexington Heritage: 1. marrieds and singles, 40s and under with the Mews series and 2. local, move-down or right-sizer empty nesters with the Club series, which includes the Berkley plan. The Mews series offers two floor plans and is a proven product with that buyer, while the Club series offers two floor plans and addresses local empty nesters who don’t want to change lifestyles by going into an elevator or condo building but still get a more manageable (including less maintenance) situation. The Club series townhomes, including the Berkley design, are two-story townhomes that live more like an attached single-family home because of their wider floor plans. The Berkley is a brand new plan for Lexington Homes, just introduced at this community. It is unique because it offers multiple layout options on the second floor with various potential bedroom configurations. It comes as a 2BR-2Ba with a huge master and master closet, but buyers can add a third bedroom by filling in the two-story space or relocating the master to the rear of the home for a larger master bath. The Berkley also includes a full, unfinished basement and private backyard, which is another nod to the feel of a single-family home. Arlington Heights required that Lexington make the garages larger, which in turn made the townhomes larger. The home also include abundant landscaping to fit with nearby nature preserves and parks.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION - 100 WORDS OR LESS

647 W. Melrose is a new multi-family building in Lakeview. The clients sought to replace their architecturally undistinguished single family home with a structure which would accommodate an elevator-served retirement home for themselves on the top floor, and four other apartments below.

The front facade is designed according to classical principles in brick and stone. At the attic story, the detailing changes to the language of wood construction, with two hipped-roof pavilions demarcated by paired pilasters. This helps to moderate the scale, which was important in obtaining zoning entitlements.

Happily, the clients committed to a high level of brick and stone detailing on the alley-facing rear facade, which is nearly unique in a project of this type.

The interiors were also detailed in traditional language, including extensive wainscoting, pilastered and coved hallways, and shaped and plaster-ornamented ceilings.
